The mineral spring in the Gorna Banya district of Sofia has been known since the time of the Thracians. The first study and description of this water was made in 1887. Analyses over the years have shown that it has a constant physico-chemical composition and is microbiologically pure. This is due both to its deep origin (more than 600 m deep, which excludes any external contamination and the influence of adverse weather conditions) and to the absence of constituents that change over time.
Experimental studies with Gorna Banya mineral water have shown that after artificial contamination with certain bacteria, it inhibits their development for a period of 10 days and has a 'purifying' effect.
Clear, colourless and odourless, naturally pure and with an excellent chemical composition, Gorna Banya mineral water undoubtedly has a beneficial effect on human health and ranks among the top mineral waters in Europe. The low total mineralization of 153 mg/l and the appropriate sodium (Na) content of 39.75 mg/l determine its favourable effect on gastrointestinal, renal-urological, biliary and other diseases. Due to the low fluorine content (F) - 0,23 ml/l, mineral water "Gorna Banya" is recommended for daily use by children and adults.
