Do you remember 2011? The world was different, offices looked different, and smartphones were just entering our daily lives. That’s when, 15 years ago, the adventure called OK Office began. We started with a simple mission: to make your work more organized, and your workday a little more cheerful.
Today, 15 years later, we want to stop for a moment and say a big “Thank you!”. Thank you for letting us into your offices, homes, and projects.
How has the office changed in these 15 years?
Over the past decade and a half, we’ve seen an incredible transformation. We’ve witnessed massive desks being replaced by minimalist ergonomic workstations, folders going digital, and “the office” no longer just being an address in a business building, but being anywhere with a laptop and a good coffee.
At OK Office, we’ve been changing with you. We learned which chairs keep your back healthy and which supplies never let you down at the last minute.
15 things we learned and which we share with you
For this anniversary, we decided to collect the 15 “golden rules” for productivity and comfort that we discovered together because the details matter – even choosing the right pen can change your day:
- Ergonomics is not a luxury, but health. A good chair is an investment in the next 10 years. Invest in “dynamic” sitting. Your chair is not just a piece of furniture, but a tool. Choose a model with adjustable lumbar support that follows the movements of your body.
- Organized desk = organized mind. Take 5 minutes at the end of each day to tidy up your desk. Nothing kills motivation in the morning like yesterday’s empty cups and scattered papers.
- The 90-90-90 rule. For proper posture, maintain a 90-degree angle in your elbows, pelvis, and knees. Your body will thank you at the end of the workday.
- The screen at eye level. Don’t hunch over your laptop. Use a monitor or laptop stand – this prevents neck pain and headaches.
- Desk zoning. Divide your workspace into an “active zone” (what you use constantly) and a “storage zone.” Desk chaos often leads to mental chaos.
- The power of natural light. Place your desk perpendicular to the window. If the light is not enough, invest in a quality desk lamp with warm light.
- “Two monitors are better than one.” Studies show that working with two screens increases productivity by up to 25%, reducing the time it takes to switch between tabs.
- The magic of paper notes. Despite the digital age, writing by hand activates the brain in a different way. A quality planner or post-it note is the best ally for quick ideas.
- Hydration is fuel. Keep a water bottle within arm’s reach at all times. The brain works slower when it’s dehydrated.
- Cable management. A “forest” of cables under your desk collects dust and creates visual stress. Use cable organizers for a cleaner, more professional look.
- The 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, look at an object 20 feet (about 6 meters) away for 20 seconds. Your eyes need a break from blue light.
- File smart. Use colored folders or document labels. Knowing exactly where each contract is saves you time and frustration.
- Personalize, but in moderation. A plant or a personal photo makes a workspace cozy, but too many memorabilia are distracting.
- Movement is a must. Even the best chair can’t replace movement. Take a short walk or stretch every hour.
- Quality over quantity. Better a quality stapler that works flawlessly for 10 years than 15 cheap ones that are annoying. Choose supplies you can rely on.
